The history of Atlungstad Distillery
The distillery was established in 1855 by a group of farmers in Stange who were far-sighted, and wanted to make the best possible use of the surplus in agriculture. The location of the distillery was strategically located down by Mjøsa where there was easy access to clean water, a necessity in production, but also for the transport of finished goods after production.
In 2011, Atlungstad Brenneri AS bought the plant from Norse potato industries, and the same autumn trial production of almost 12,000 litres of spirits began. Although the distillery is not fully operational, it is still operational and the only historic distillery in Norway that is in operation for part of the year today.
