NITO Pensioners in Oslo and Akershus invites you to visit Grini Museum, a place that conveys an important and strong part of Norwegian history. The museum is located at the area where Grini prison camp was located during World War II, and provides a close insight into events, human fates and the everyday lives of those who were imprisoned there. Through exhibitions, stories and historical material, visitors gain a better understanding of this part of our common past.
The visit includes both a lecture and a guided tour, and the program starts precisely at 12 noon. We therefore recommend everyone to arrive well in advance, so that we can start together and get the full benefit of the program. After the tour, there will be an opportunity to gather over coffee and lefser.
We encourage participants to use public transport or carpooling, as there is limited parking space at the museum. From Oslo S, it is easiest to take the metro or train to a hub with a further bus towards the Grini area.
From Oslo, you can take metro line 2, with end station Østerås, from Nationaltheatret at 11:13 with access to EiksmarkaT-bane station at 11:28. From there, bus 230 departs at 11:31 to Ila (the stop right next to the museum building – yellow barracks).
NB: The bus only runs every half hour. This is the last subway/bus to arrive on time
We recommend that everyone check Ruter's travel planner for updated route information before departure.
There are only 60 places at this event. If you are on the waiting list, you will be notified continuously - perhaps the day before - if you get a place.
This will be an educational and social gathering, and we hope many people want to participate. Sign up for the visit as soon as possible, and join us for a meaningful day together with other members of NITO Pensioners in Oslo and Akershus.
